241119 What I Have Done

  3. 241119 What I Have Done

Ok, 11/19/24 note to myself.

I forget what I have achieved and I understand it is not lasting.  While I am able to do things it will be nice to revisit this note.

Selling of paintings and drawings:
The future plans of selling A.I. creations is being explored now.  I have had art shows of paintings I created and sold paintings.  I have also sold drawings for publishing in books.  The physical world requires many areas of space. The last art show I did included 20 paintings.  There were paintings hung all throughout the house before the show.  I miss the touch and smell of the art materials.  My doctor says I  also need to return to creating in the physical world.  I think she is correct. As my health improves I will do that, until then I will continue exploring the world of creating with A.I., this too is helpful.

Education:
Two years of vocational printing certificate covering idea, photography, drawing and design of the commercial product. Building the printing plates and running the printing press to produce the sheets of final copy.

Two years Associate Degree is commercial art. This was covering art classes in painting, drawing, print making, art history, commercial design and production.  This was two years of focus in one area of the vocational printing process.

Four year Bachelor Degree in Fine Art focus in sculpture. This area of study focused on creating and understanding art. Covering literature, history, painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafts.

Minor in Art History was achieved along side the Bachelor Degree.  The many hours of study there still have connection with me in how I view and create images.

Value of worth:
Review of value in business is related to other business or years of experience of other people.  This along with what people and companies will pay.  Based on my research in 2024 the education and experience I bring to the creation has a low starting range of $250 an hour.

Billing of time:
Many businesses do billing of a task based on the amount of time it takes to create that task from idea to finished product.  If a business takes 2 hours to complete the task they bill a fee of set amount.  The funny thing is once the business has done that task the forms designed from that task get the same fee amount.  Each form now has a value based on the labor to create it.  Now just signing that already completed form has the same fee value as if creating the form from the beginning. They also add on to the cost of the person filling out the form and signing it.

The process of A.I. creating:
The time from idea through the use of many different A.I. solutions takes days and hours to create a series of images.  Each image would have a lowest value of $250 an hour.  This cost would begin with the thought process of design and idea before starting the use of the A.I. solutions to create what was desired.  Thousands of images I have created to build up my own library or catalog of works would have individual values over $250 each.

Value is subjective:
The above covered ways of placing value on business worth and cost.  I have worked in a day job unrelated to art.  The companies have always had their own budgets and I was paid less than I would have been for the same work at a different company.  This is like looking at market value.  The same occurs when thinking about location.  The salary for the same job is different based on which part of the world one is working.

Meaning of all this:
While in college they covered how to run an art business and knowing one's worth.  Next was seeing what that worth and reality are together.  I see my time spent in creating art as being $500 an hour.  That value will increase as each year of production occurs.  I also see the cost of the materials being $x for 2024.  Hopefully this cost will come down in the future.  I have know this is not a business because I can not bring in enough money to cover the materials or my own value.  Based on the business model of a law firm each image I create would be valued at $x plus $500 and hour for time to create the image.  Adding the sale of images to what I am doing, is giving away what I have been creating.  There are few artists that can price their works at the true value of that creation.  Receiving something back while giving away my hard work will be the goal.

Selling to the world:
The markets and the values of worth vary greatly across the world.  My idea of creating an online store to sale images is interesting.  This is not done in a small town or in a park on the weekend.  This is done across the world 24 hours a day.  Wonder what I will do with this idea?
